Sorry Arches but I’ve betrayed you for Fabriano—I’m so ashamed, only not really. Completely worth having to buy ten sheets.
The three color Gum Bichromate over Cyanotype I made today (featuring the lovely ofbovasso)! I posted the video above to explain some of my trial and errors from today because I thought it’d be too long of a post.. though it may also be too long of a video I’m not sure.
Some things I didn’t include:
- I’m using Pictorico Ultra Premium OHP Transparency Film
- Printing as horizontally flipped negatives on an HP Photosmart Home Printer (I’m using photo paper settings, 360 DPI, maximum DPI in print dialog and maximum ink volume)
- In Photoshop after separating the channels into CMY I changed in the levels dialog box the output levels to 50 on the left and 200 on the right to make it a flatter image
GUM BICHROMATE WITH A 4x5 NEGATIVE. YES.
I’m really proud of myself honestly for figuring this out. I feel like I’m moving up in the alternative process world.
1-1 Potassium Dichromate (13%)/Gum Arabic and Lamp Black watercolor exposed for 3 minutes on to Arches 140lb hot press watercolor paper. Developed for around 20 minutes.
